- Regular dental check ups are
- the key to dental health.
- On the N.H.S. you are only
permitted to have a check up every 6 months and this is due to change to
once every 2 years.
- Private patients can have a
check up as often as they feel that they need one.
5
- There is more to dentistry than
just drilling and filling but on the health service, this is pretty much
all that is available.
6
- A wide range of treatment is
available to private patients which NHS patients don’t have access to.
What’s more, as a private patient you can choose the treatment you have.
7
- In these pictures you can see very decayed teeth. The N.H.S. will only
allow treatment to restore the function of the teeth and so these teeth
would have been filled.
8
- As the patient chose private treatment, the teeth were restored with
porcelain crowns which not only restore function but also the
appearance.
9
- The N.H.S. would only allow this tooth to be restored with an ugly
silver filling or an equally ugly gold crown but a private white
porcelain inlay looks much better and is just as strong.
10
- Private white fillings are just as strong as NHS amalgam ones but look
so much better.
11
- As the teeth on either side of the space are technically sound, the
N.H.S. would expect this patient to have a denture.
- A private bridge not only replaces the missing tooth but improves the
appearance of the teeth on either side.
12
- Sheer extravagance which would not be allowed on the N.H.S.
13
- Discoloured teeth restored with porcelain veneers.
